The Arts

ARTS ARE INTEGRAL TO OUR LEARNING AND LIFE EXPERIENCES

EVERY STUDENT AT LATIN FINDS THEIR CREATIVE SPARK, CONNECTS WITH OTHERS, AND GROWS IN A COMMUNITY THAT CELEBRATES SELF-EXPRESSION.

From foundational skills in Lower School to the exploration of mediums in Middle School to advanced performances and portfolio work in Upper School, students experience the arts as a creative journey - one that strengthens their voice, sharpens their focus, and fuels their imagination. Along the way, they build meaningful connections with peers, talented teachers and the broader community through shared artistic experiences - most of all, they experience joy.

THE ARTS ARE KEY TO A WELL-ROUNDED EXPERIENCE

Over 80% of students participate in the arts at Latin. As they progress through Latin’s multidisciplinary arts program, students bring an acumen, skillset, and unique perspective to their pieces and performances because their confidence builds and perspectives widen. Hope Gottschling ’24 utilized the Fab Lab as she designed, sewed, and photographed a portfolio of fashion pieces that won an honorable mention in the National Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.

Visual Arts

At Latin, visual art is everywhere — lining our hallways and filling our studios. From foundational techniques in Lower School to self-directed projects in Middle and Upper Schools, students are guided by teachers and encouraged to explore without limits. The result? Bold, poignant work that often earns regional and national recognition — and always reflects the vibrancy of our community.

Performing Arts

The Horne Performing Arts Center is the creative heartbeat of campus — a space where students sing, act, move, and imagine together. With expert faculty, top-tier facilities, and a spirit of collaboration, students grow in confidence and artistry, culminating in a season of concerts and productions that bring the whole community together. At Latin, the stage is open to everyone — students, families, alumni — because the performing arts belong to us all.

FACULTY SHARE THEIR CRAFT AND SHAPE THE NEXT GENERATION OF ARTISTS

Led by visionary educators like Alicia Long, chair of performing arts, and Richard Fletcher, chair of visual arts, our faculty foster a dynamic, inclusive environment where curiosity is encouraged and bold expression is celebrated. Whether in the studio or backstage, students are seen, supported, and challenged by teachers who are artists themselves — passionate about their craft and even more passionate about helping young artists flourish.
