ALUMNI HIGHLIGHTS

With more than 5,000 Hawks across the globe, Charlotte Latin is proud of our alumni and the impact they’re making in their professions and communities. Latin alumni — lifelong learners, communicators, thinkers, collaborators, and navigators — shape the world in extraordinary ways.

Join us each month as we highlight one alum’s journey, achievements, and the lessons learned along the way. The path after graduating from Latin may be different for all, but no matter what, Hawks always aim high.

Andrew Egge ’18

After graduating from Charlotte Latin in 2018, Andrew Egge didn’t follow the most traditional career path, and that was exactly the point. Today, Andrew is based in Rockland, Maine, where he is leading the restoration of Mercantile, a 116-foot historic wooden schooner built in 1916. As the steward of this National Historic Landmark, Andrew is balancing hands-on craftsmanship, nonprofit leadership, and fundraising, all in pursuit of keeping a century-old vessel sailing for generations to come. We caught up with Andrew to learn more about his journey, his work restoring Mercantile, and the lessons he’s learned by charting his own path.
