Charlotte Latin Names Fredrik Akerblom as Director of Development

Charlotte, N.C. - Charlotte Latin School has named Fredrik Akerblom as Director of Development to lead the school's philanthropic efforts. Akerblom joins Latin with a long history of service in education and the nonprofit sector in the areas of major gifts, fundraising, operations and project management. He comes to the School from Uppsala University in Sweden, where he was the Major Gifts Officer and Manager of Development. Prior to Uppsala University, he was a management consultant in Connecticut and Director of Operations for the fundraising office of a North American global nonprofit, also in Connecticut.

Akerblom holds a B.A. in History from the University of Gothenburg, Gothenburg, Sweden, and is an active member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and the Swedish Network for Development Professionals in Higher Education.

Akerblom was selected after an extensive, international search that was led by Aspen Leadership Group. "We are delighted to have Fredrik join our School community and to continue the outstanding leadership we have come to expect in our Development Office. Fredrik has the training, experience and personal qualifications that make him the ideal candidate for this position," said Headmaster Arch N. McIntosh, Jr.

Building relationships is a strength of Akerblom's and will be a primary focus when he starts his position in July. "The Development team's focus is to provide ongoing, tangible stimulus to support Latin's short- and long-term priorities. The principal strategy we use is to establish, care for and develop relationships within the Latin community, with its many friends among alumni, parents and the larger community," said Akerblom.

Of Charlotte Latin's Development Department Akerblom noted, "There is a solid foundation and a collaborative environment already in place. Our task for the future is to continue to engage long-term friends and invite new ones to take part in fulfilling Latin's mission."
