Jim Huffaker Named Chief Technology Officer Charlotte, N.C. – Charlotte Latin School has named Jim Huffaker the school's next Chief Technology Officer. Huffaker's selection came after an extensive, national search including a diverse group of candidates. "We wanted someone with a deep understanding of the myriad aspects of the CTO position, from network switches to telephony and data transmission to Ed Tech and help desk. Jim has that hands-on experience and a strong history of management and relationship building," said Latin's Head of School Chuck Baldecchi.
Huffaker's previous position (2011–2021) was Director of Technology at The Hun School of Princeton in Princeton, NJ, where he was head of school technology. He oversaw the school's COVID response and its move to fully virtual learning, including introducing a Zoom IT Helpdesk for support on and off campus and adding technology to classrooms to support hybrid learning. Huffaker monitored technology needs for new construction, including the Hun's STEM Center and Theater. He designed IT and AV infrastructure for the school's Global Commons and Middle School buildings and led numerous other significant projects, including chairing the committee for a new Learning Management System, managing the implementation of a new Student Information System, and installing campus-wide WiFi. In addition to leading the Tech Department, he was also active with the student body, serving as an Upper School Advisor and establishing its competitive robotics team and Lego League.
Before The Hun School, he was the Assistant Director of Technology/Network Administrator at Chestnut Hill Academy in Pennsylvania.
Huffaker holds an M.S. in Instructional Systems and Technology from Cabrini University, St. Davids, PA, and a B.A. in Organizational Management from Eastern University, St. Davids, PA. He is also a veteran of the United States Navy.
Huffaker commented about his appointment, "After I left my interview at Charlotte Latin, two thoughts passed through my mind as I drove to the airport. First, I thought, what a wonderful school and the second thought was whoever lands that position is going to be one lucky CTO!"
