Joanne Beam Named Charlotte Latin School's Next Director of Development
Charlotte, N.C. – Charlotte Latin School has named Joanne Beam Director of Development. Beam was previously at Capstone Advancement Partners (2003–2014), where she was Founder and President. After Capstone she worked at Wake Forest University and held positions at the Wake Forest Charlotte Center including Chief Development Officer and Director of Non-Degree Programs. Most recently, she worked as a Facilitator, Strategist, Consultant, Coach, and Teacher with Beam Outcomes.
Joanne holds a B.S. in Business from Wake Forest University, where she began her development career as Associate Director of Advancement. In 1999, after also working in banking, Joanne began a 15-year career in nonprofit consulting sharing her banking, investment, and fundraising experience with nonprofit organizations throughout the southeast.Through her work, she has supported many of the Charlotte region's most accomplished nonprofits.
Widely recognized as a leader in the field of Development, in 2013 the Charlotte Business Journal named her one of the Top 25 Women in Business. In 1998, she was named one of the "Forty Leaders Under Forty" in the Piedmont Triad, and recently, the Charlotte Ledger named her one of their "Forty Over Forty Leaders." In addition, Joanne has served the Charlotte community as a board member of numerous nonprofits including Good Friends Charlotte, Metrolina Association for the Blind, and Social Venture Partners. Head of School, Chuck Baldecchi said, "Joanne's deep ties to Charlotte Latin include serving on the Board of Trustees for six years, volunteering to serve on various Board and campaign committees, and serving as the school's campaign consultant for the Foundation for the Future campaign. This experience, coupled with her exemplary professionalism, make her an ideal fit for the position. I look forward to working with her in this final year of the Vision2020 campaign and in the future."
Of her appointment Beam said, "I am thrilled to join Charlotte Latin as Director of Development. It is a rare opportunity for me to combine the essence of my life's work with a school I love.
