Dear Latin Community,

I am pleased to share the Pandemic Decision Matrix with you. This is an important part of our Return to Campus Plan. The matrix details:

  • Quarantine, Campus Access Control, and Visitors
  • Academic Continuity
  • Co-Curriculars and Athletics Programs
  • Community Events and Field Trips
  • Campus Health Precautions
  • School Operations
  • Personnel
  • Reporting Illness or Contact
  • Communications

Note the link in the matrix to COVID-19 Prevention, Policies, and Procedures that details how we will handle a variety of scenarios including a confirmed case in a classroom, quarantine, and isolation. We've had many questions regarding these procedures and hope this provides you with clarity. We anticipate additional content to this document over time.

The matrix is the work of the COVID-19 Pandemic Team and the Admin Team, with input from healthcare professionals.

My approach to decision making regarding risk level is wholistic — there is no single data point that determines risk level. Rather, there are many factors taken into consideration when determining the risk level. These factors include increasing/decreasing COVID-19 cases in Mecklenburg County and the surrounding area, the level of compliance within the Latin community with mitigation strategies (e.g., wearing face coverings and adhering to social distancing), and the detection of cases within the CLS community.

If you have a question about the matrix, please use the all-school question form or the specific division question form. We'll route your question to the appropriate person to answer it.

I can't wait to welcome everyone back to school next week. Enjoy the weekend and Go Hawks!

P.S. We have just received word that the state of North Carolina is providing five multilayered cloth face coverings for each student. These will be distributed at Orientation.
