Varsity Boys' Basketball



Overview


Led by Latin alum Chris Berger, the Varsity Boys’ Basketball team will look to seniors John Beecy and William Lloyd for leadership of a young group. The Hawks finished the 2017-2018 season with an overall record of 10-15 and a CISAA conference record of 2-8.

Coaches


  • Head Coach
    Chris Berger
    Chris Berger transferred to Charlotte Latin for his junior year of high school and earned All-Conference and All-State honors as a leader of the Hawks’ Varsity Basketball team. He went on to play at Wingate University before transferring to Queens University, where he still appears in the record books for 3-point shooting and was teammates with Donay Fullwood. Coach Berger joined the Latin staff in 1994 as an assistant to Latin Athletic Hall of Fame honoree Jerry Faulkner. He led the JV Basketball team for ten years before taking over the Varsity program in 2009. Coach Berger also played golf for Queens University and has been leading the Hawks on the links since 2014.
  • Assistant Coach
    Donay Fullwood
    Donay Fullwood holds the 1st, 2nd and 10th spots for most assists in a season in the Queens University basketball records. He’s been coaching since 1995, and has worked with track and cross country in addition to basketball. Coach Fullwood assists the Varsity Boys’ Basketball team and is Head Coach of the JV Boys’ Basketball team. Many of his players were formally his students in advanced pre-algebra in the Middle School.
  • Assistant Coach
    Josh Stein
    Josh Stein has worked as an assistant basketball coach at a number of schools, including Queens University and Belmont Abbey, and he previously oversaw basketball operations at the Levine Jewish Community Center. He began working with the Hawks during the 2017-2018 season.
