Malone Scholars Program
The Malone Scholars program allows Charlotte Latin to offer a scholarship for highly capable, motivated students in grades 7 through 12 based on merit and financial need.
In 2006, Charlotte Latin School was selected by the Malone Family Foundation to receive a $2 million endowment for the funding of educational opportunities for academically talented and motivated students whose families demonstrate financial need. Charlotte Latin is one of just 50 schools in the country and the only school in North Carolina to be a part of this prestigious program.
Founded by Dr. John C. Malone of Colorado, the Malone Family Foundation’s primary goal is to provide scholarship funding at the secondary level for students who are at the 95 percent or above of their classes, and who have the desire and drive to maximize their potential, but have limited financial resources to attend independent schools.
Applicants for the Malone Scholars Program must meet the following criteria:
- Be a rising Grade 7-12 student
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Rank in the top 5% of their class
- Outstanding standardized test scores
- Show evidence of enthusiasm for and motivation toward maximizing his/her educational opportunities
- Demonstrate financial need to qualify for funding of at least 30% of tuition through Charlotte Latin’s need-based financial aid qualifying process
If your child does not qualify for a Malone Scholarship, financial aid may still be available to help you afford a Charlotte Latin School education. If you apply for the Malone Scholarship, you will automatically be considered for any aid available through the school’s financial aid program. All financial aid information is confidential.
The Malone Family Foundation selects one school in each state to receive a $2 million endowment to fund academically talented and motivated students whose families demonstrate financial need. Charlotte Latin School is proud to be the only Malone School in North Carolina.
