After School Activities

Charlotte Latin offers a range of options for Lower School students to participate in afterschool care.

Extended Day

Our extended day program, known as Hawks’ Club, serves Charlotte Latin students enrolled in transitional kindergarten through fifth grade. The program provides students with structured opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, engage in dramatic play, create a craft and participate in many hands-on activities. Extended Day teachers provide a stimulating, safe and caring environment where children can participate in many enrichment activities as well as play and socialize.

Our goal is to offer an exciting environment where students can learn, make friends and be truly engaged each afternoon. Extended Day also supports the School’s mission of encouraging individual development by offering many growth-promoting opportunities.
Extended Day operates on weekdays from 1:30–6 p.m. Parents may customize their child’s schedule to end at 3:10 p.m., 4:30 p.m., or 6 p.m. The program begins the first day of school and ends the last of day of school each semester.

We understand the needs of working families and provide care on non-school days whenever possible such as early dismissal days, teacher workdays, parent conference days and kindergarten admissions group visit days. On these days, we plan off-campus activities, such as bowling, petting zoos, roller rinks and more.

Extended Day fees are charged per semester and reflect one-, two-, three-, four- or five-day a week options.

Enrichment Program

In addition to the many daily activity choices that children enjoy in Extended Day, we offer semester-long enrichment classes to all Lower School students. Offerings are designed to introduce students to a new skill, spark a new interest or broaden an existing talent. Classes are taught by instructors who are professionally trained and educated in their respective fields.
Examples of these programs include ballet, pottery, golf and engineering.

Lower School Clubs

We offer several Lower School clubs for students interested in participating in an activity with less of a time commitment. Clubs include Girls on the Run, Odyssey of the Mind, and Service Club, among others.
