A Day in the Life of a Kindergartener

From 8:10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., our Kindergarten students are fully engaged.

Every day begins with predictable and comforting routines so teachers and students can immerse themselves in the busy work ahead. Our mornings are dedicated to reading and math instruction and teachers construct age appropriate lesson plans that captivate and engage the children. Through whole group instruction, workshop instruction, and plenty of movement – including singing and dancing – our students master the foundational skills of school and become independent, collaborative students.

As morning work winds down, students transition to a variety of activities including recess, a trip to one of our specials, lunch, recess, and unique afternoon projects. As community members, our Kindergarten students will share in classroom jobs, goal setting, group work, and whole school initiatives like the All School service learning projects and pep rallies. With daily open library check out and a wide selection of after school enrichment, our youngest children are exposed to a wide variety of lifelong pursuits that put the joy in learning.
