Sayman, Dannemann earn individual honors; Golf team second at championships

2022 NCISAA Boys Golf Runners-Up

The varsity boys' golf team was the runner-up at the NCISAA 4A Boys' Golf Championship on Monday, May 16, 2022 at the Champions Course in Bryan Park, Greensboro, NC. The Hawks were represented by seniors Jack Dannemann and Wilson Thrift, juniors Davis Sayman and Jackson Adams, sophomore William Adams and freshman Brendan Miles. Sayman had the low score of the day for Latin, shooting +2 and finishing tied for fifth with a 74. Thrift followed, shooting a 75 and tied for tenth. Dannemann (76) and Jackson Adams (79) rounded out the team score, which is comprised of the lowest four scores from a maximum of six golfers representing each team. Charlotte Country Day won the tournament with a score of 302, followed by Charlotte Latin with 304, and Ravenscroft with 305.

Just two weeks prior, the Hawks had also finished in second place at the CISAA Conference Championship with a team total of 291, three strokes behind CISAA champions Providence Day's score of 288. Senior Jack Dannemann shot a 68 to win medalist and become the CISAA champion. Dannemann, Thrift, and Sayman each earned All-Conference honors and Sayman was named the CISAA Player of the Year.
