Norvy Clontz earned All-American status as a freshman
Norvy Clontz, class of 2025, earned All-American status in his freshman year of high school swimming by performing one of the top 100 times in the nation at an interscholastic competition within the 2021-2022 season. Norvy's All-American performance came at the NCISAA Championship in February, as he swam to a first place finish in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:32.07.
In order for a swimmer to be considered as a National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) High School All-American, he/she must be in at least the 9th grade level of school, compete for an interscholastic team and be scholastically eligible as determined by his/her state athletic association or school authority. Times must be submitted to the one-hundredth of a second and be verified by official meet results. The fastest one hundred athletes with submitted and accepted times in each event are named All-America. See the complete All America Swimming and Diving list here.
Norvy's performance during the school year was just a sign of progress to come, as he has continued to excel throughout the summer. At the end of July, he competed in the Phillips 66 National Championships and had several notable swims, including an eighth place finish in the 800 meter freestyle. His time of 8:01.64 ranks him #8 all-time in the U.S. 15-16 age group rankings. The following week, he competed in the 2022 Speedo Junior National Championships where he won the 400 meter freestyle with a new meet record time of 3:50.82 and established himself as the fastest American 15-year old ever in that event.
