Charlotte Latin Athletic Hall of Fame Announces 2024 Slate

Five alumni athletes and one former coach will be inducted into the Charlotte Latin School Athletic Hall of Fame in September 2024. They form the sixth class of inductees for the Athletic Hall of Fame, bringing its total number of members to 33.

These notable Hawks (and the sports where they made their marks) are Haylee Dawe ’11 (cross-country, track), Claudia Dickey ’18 (basketball, soccer), Joey Holder ’93 (soccer, basketball, and track), Coach Lee Horton (soccer), Daniel Jones ’15 (football, basketball), and Tonya Phifer ’97 (basketball, softball, and track).

The Charlotte Latin School Athletic Hall of Fame recognizes members of the Charlotte Latin School community who have distinguished themselves as outstanding contributors to the school's athletic program by having demonstrated exemplary sportsmanship and character. Inductees have also established high standards of excellence in athletic achievement. Charlotte Latin established the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014 and taps new members every other year.

Michael Meyer ’83, Chair of the Hall of Fame committee, said: “We are extremely proud to announce the CLS Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2024. The inductees made outstanding contributions to the school’s strong and growing tradition of athletic excellence through their extraordinary accomplishments, leadership, and competitive integrity. We can’t wait to celebrate CLS Athletics and their inclusion in the Hall of Fame this fall.”

These new inductees will be honored at an intimate family dinner on the evening of September 19 and celebrated by the Latin community at halftime of the football game in Patten Stadium on Friday, September 20.
