Charles Receives Morehead-Cain Scholarship
Please enjoy this great news as written and presented by Associate head Fletcher Gregory:

The Morehead-Cain is the first merit scholarship program in the United States, established in 1945 at the nation's first public university, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Morehead-Cain is a full scholarship to Carolina and includes significant academic and personal discovery opportunities during college. The ideals of the Morehead-Cain are as follows: thoughtful leadership, serious scholarship, a commitment to physical activity, and moral courage.
This year's recipient has been described by his math teacher as a humble scholar, always prepared, and always ready to assist others. His Spanish teacher cited his thoughtful contributions to class discussions, often leading the class to the heart of a complicated topic.
This past summer, he extended his learning in the sciences through an internship opportunity at the Cancer Institute at a local hospital.
Since his arrival in 6th Grade, he has made friends easily and has actively participated in student life. Whether leading a team in a Latin academic competition, contributing to Mosaic club activities, or serving as an Admissions Ambassador, he brings his energy and commitment to making Latin a better place for all students. As noted in the recent edition of the Hawk Eye, this young man is all about building a better community for Latin students.
And on top of all of this, he plays the clarinet in the Upper School Band and plays midfield on the Varsity Lacrosse team
Quite a résumé.
I am honored to present the 2022 Morehead-Cain Scholarship to Thierry Charles.
