Blue Review 2025 Launches

“We gobbled cotton candy torches, sweet as furtive kisses, shared on benches beneath summer shadows.” That evocative sentence begins the editors’ letter of the 2025 edition of Blue Review, Charlotte Latin School’s award-winning literary and arts magazine, showcasing the artistic talents of Upper School students and capturing the flickering memories of teenage years as they illuminate the passing seasons.

Latin celebrated the publication of the 96-page full-color magazine on April 25 with a launch party in Anne’s Black Box, in which the magazine’s lead layout editors (Jolin Cheng ’26, Samora Elam ’26, Hannah Hurden ’25, Jackie Rao ’26, Isabel Yang ’26, and Lynn Zhao ’26) shared the responsibility of reading that letter, followed by a dozen students reading their submissions to the magazine, in genres including flash fiction, short memoirs, and free verse.

The student writers, artists, and editors (categories that overlap with each other) were joined by their peers, families, members of the faculty, and other supporters, including faculty adviser Lori Davis and faculty co-adviser Tiffany Fletcher. Squarebound copies of the 2025 Blue Review are still available in Lori Davis’s classroom or an electronic version of the issue can be read here.
