2024 NCAIS Diversity & Inclusion Conference

Eight Upper School students, accompanied by members of the DEI Team, actively participated in the NCAIS Diversity & Inclusion Conference at Guilford College on January 19, 2024.

The conference was centered on the theme "Balancing Joy and Justice: Enhancing Wellness and Fostering a Sense of Belonging in our DEIJ Practice." Students engaged in dialogues covering affinity groups, connections to DEIJ work, financial freedom, and had the privilege to attend a presentation by the renowned storyteller and Spoken Word Poet, Hannah Hasan. Hasan's insights on using personal stories to build community added a dynamic element to the conference.

Emy Pacheco Ramirez ‘24, a leader of the Hispanic/Latinx Student Alliance, expressed that the conference was an enlightening experience. She highlighted the satisfaction of connecting with fellow students who shared similar interests and cultural identities. The immediate connection among these young social justice leaders created a vibrant learning environment, allowing them to gain valuable insights from each other's shared experiences.

Thank you to our students and the DEI Team for actively participating in this enriching conference and representing Charlotte Latin with dedication and passion.
