This year’s senior film, A Matter of Time, is a gently melancholy group portrait depicting young people at the end of the world. While the film’s apocalypse is quite literal, it can also be seen as our senior filmmakers wrestling with their impending graduation, the end of one world before they head off to the new world of college and adult life. 

A small cohort of Charlotte Latin seniors collaborated over the course of the 2022–2023 school year to make an original short film. Assisted by professional filmmaker Joe Stauffer, these students went through the whole process of filmmaking, from ideation, writing, pre-production, casting, and on-location shooting through the final edit. While the leadership team for the film consisted of seniors Holt Daniels, Belle Nabors, Alex Roberts, Lila Rhee, Nyela Rucker, and Mia Zottoli, the group enlisted over 50 members of the Latin community to participate in making the film. Students and faculty pitched to act, crew, and serve as extras in the production.
