Latin Student Performs at Chamber Music Festival in Kansas

Zion Levy, an eighth grader at Charlotte Latin School, has received acclaim from many quarters for his prodigious skill on the piano: he won a gold medal in 2023 for his solo performance at the International Piano Professional (IPPA) Competition in Recanati, Italy, and played a 2024 recital at Carnegie Hall in New York, NY. In early 2025, his musical talent brought him to Lawrence, KS, where he took part in the seven-day IPPA Chamber Music Festival.

On the University of Kansas campus, Zion received tutoring from university music professors, participated in chamber music workshops and rehearsals with the St. Petersburg String Quartet (a Grammy-nominated Russian classical music ensemble), and performed in the concert that closed the festival.

Back home at Charlotte, Zion plays cello in Latin’s Middle School Orchestra, receiving instruction on strings from Sabrina Howard and Laci Wargo.
