Charlotte Latin students Claire Barnhardt and Archie McIntosh turned the globe into a classroom as they took part in the Spoleto Study Abroad Program in Italy during the summer of 2008. Both students participated in the visual arts component of this intensive study program in the arts and humanities. The students in this program enjoyed a curriculum that focused on the philosophical, intellectual, and mechanical aspects of art through studio classes, art history, and excursions to cultural centers such as Florence, Assisi, Tivoli, Siena, and other medieval hill towns of Central Italy.
Charlotte Latin School is a member of a 14-school consortium that supports the Spoleto Study Abroad Program mission. This interdisciplinary summer program is committed to bringing an integrated style of learning to those students interested in pursuing their academic and artistic interests in a unique European setting.
