Charlotte Latin's varsity and JV volleyball teams will host the 9th annual Serve for the Cure volleyball tournament from 9 a.m. to approximately 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25, in the Beck Student Activities Center. Twenty volleyball teams from public and independent high schools in the Charlotte region will join together in friendly competition to raise money for the Charlotte affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and to promote education and awareness of breast cancer and women’s health.
Area teams participating include Ardrey Kell, Charlotte Latin, Charlotte Country Day, Hickory Grove, Kings Mountain, Mallard Creek, North Meckelenburg, Providence, Providence Day, South Mecklenburg and Weddington. Players raise funds through raffle ticket sales and pledges. Door prizes will be given during the event and a silent auction will be held.
Last year, approximately 300 players and coaches participated in the event, raising more than $46,000 for Komen Charlotte. Spectators are invited to drop by at any time during the day to watch play and support the event.
