Nationally renowned author and psychologist gives keynote address at Fox Distinguished Lecture Program

Headmaster Arch McIntosh welcomes Dr. Rob Evans, Mrs. Joanna Fox and Headmaster Emeritus Dr. Edward J. Fox Jr. to Charlotte Latin.

Dr. Rob Evans, a clinical and organizational psychologist and executive director of The Human Relations Service in Wellesley, Mass., presented the keynote address of the Fox Distinguished Lecture Program to parents, faculty and administrators from Charlotte Latin and area schools on Thursday, April 16. Evans spoke on "Family Matters: Raising Healthy Children In Challenging Times."

A former high school and pre-school teacher and a former child and family therapist, Evans has worked with schools and families for 30 years. He is the author of many articles and two books: Family Matters: How Schools Can Cope with The Crisis in Childrearing and The Human Side of School Change.

Evans is a graduate of the Germantown Friends School and received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University and his doctorate from Harvard University. His interests have focused on change and resistance to it in schools and organizations, and on the challenges of leading innovation. He is currently concentrating on the changes in American families and their impact on schools.

The Fox Distinguished Lecture Program was founded in 2001 by Headmaster Arch McIntosh and his wife, Jennifer, to honor Headmaster Emeritus Dr. Edward J. Fox Jr., and his wife, Joanna, for their years of service to Charlotte Latin. Fellows from the Teaching Fellows Institute, which was founded at Charlotte Latin to honor Mecklenburg County’s public and private school’s master teachers, were special guests at the lecture.
