Charlotte Latin Community Celebrates the Life of
Founding Board of Trustees Chair Frank Ramsay Thies, Jr.
Mr. Thies’ life was dedicated to his family and our school. His inspirational leadership touches our lives every day and we will always be grateful to him.
The Latin community joins in extending our sympathy to his children, Trey '78, Mary Janet Hawkins '79, Boyce '81, Lawton '84 and Charles '90, his grandchildren, Caroline Hawkins '07 and Mary Padgett Hawkins '11, and his extended family.
Mr. Thies was predeceased by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Janet Rich Thies, who also served as a founding member of Charlotte Latin's Board of Trustees.
Frank Ramsay Thies, Jr., of Charlotte, died Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at Charlotte's Presbyterian Hospital, the same hospital in which he was born 82 years ago, on February 8, 1929, the only child of the late Frank R. Thies, Sr., and Eleanore Louise Arhelger.
