Members of the Charlotte Latin community traded in time at the beach during spring break for volunteering on a Habitat for Humanity construction site in El Salvador. Latin students and their chaperones worked throughout the week to complete the construction of one house and begin foundations for two other houses. The CLS group also delivered to Habitat El Salvador the $16,020 raised by the CLS community for the 2009 Thanksgiving All-School service project.

They were accompanied by CLS faculty and staff members Bob Patten, Sally Teden, and Bill Zuehlke, CLS parents Jerry Berkowitz, Polly Menaker, and Michael Miess, and Habitat for Humanity representative Nancy Pugh.
