Dr. Celestin Musekura, a pastor, Rwandan genocide survivor, and founder of ALARM (African Leadership and Reconciliation Ministries), spoke to Middle School students during an assembly on Monday, Feb. 2. Dr. Musekura spoke about his experiences in Rwanda, as well as ALARM's mission to "empower African pastors and other leaders to bring hope and transformation to their communities." He also spoke abut ALARM's efforts to "change the tradition in Africa of pushing women back."
ALARM seeks to education and empower women and give them "a different focus on life." Dr. Musekura spoke specifically about ALARM's Institute for Women's Excellence, a school for neglected girls in Rwanda. Latin students announced that, during the spring semester, the Middle School would be raising funds to create a science lab at the Rwandan school.
