Charlotte Latin student Ansley Nurkin has been selected as the national second place winner in Age Group 1 of the Coastal America Ocean Art Contest. Among the thousands of entries submitted, her artwork was selected as an outstanding example of how an ocean principle can be conveyed through art.
As a national contest winner, her artwork and narrative will be displayed at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History from December 1, 2008, through March 31, 2009. Millions of people will be able to view her artwork and learn about an important ocean principle. In addition, Coastal America is flying Ansley and her family to Washington, D.C., for a series of events from September 25-27, 2008.
