Charlotte Latin students Chris Bellitto, Samantha Foreman, Mattie Gainer, Andrea Gray, Noland Griffith, Daniel Hoilett, Eliza Karp, Angela Kern, Charlotte Magee and Alex Taylor, Upper School English teacher Jackie Fishman, and Director of Diversity Nick Wharton joined 37 students and teacher Larry Bosc from East Mecklenburg High School for a civil rights tour of the South on March 26-28.
The tour covered the states of Georgia and Alabama and included stops at the site of the last mass lynching in America; The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change; The King Home; Ebenezer Baptist Church; the Civil Rights Memorial Center; the Rosa Parks Museum; the Montgomery State Capital Building; Dexter Avenue Memorial Church; the Voting Rights March Interpretive Center; the Civil Rights District in Birmingham, Ala.; the 16th Street Baptist Church and the Birmingham Civil Rights Museum.
