The Echo Foundaiton to Host Bishop John Rucyahana of Rwanda
on Tuesday, March 4, and Wednesday, March 5
Student Dialogue
Bishop Rucyahana will participate in The Echo Foundation Student Dialogue on March 4 at Charlotte Latin School with some 700 students to discuss critical issues of peace, human dignity, intervention, and justice. Students have been preparing for the dialogue, a key component of Echo's 2008 Voices Against Indifference Initiative, From Rwanda to Darfur: A Week of Hope and Reconciliation, by studying an extensive curriculum guide that examines reconciliation in Rwanda, the current crisis in Darfur, and historical aspects of genocide.
Students and teachers from 21 high schools in Charlotte and the region will attend the dialogue: Audrey Kell, Butler, Charlotte Catholic, Charlotte Latin, East Mecklenburg, Garinger, Harding University, Independence, Mallard Creek, Myers Park, Nation Ford, North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, North Mecklenburg, Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology, Providence, Providence Day, South Mecklenburg, Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy, Vance, West Charlotte and West Mecklenburg.

Public Lecture and Book Signing
Bishop Rucyahana will discuss the renewal taking place in Rwanda today and the role the international community plays in the conditions that lead to genocide on Wednesday, March 5, at Queens University of Charlotte. A reception will follow the discussion, and books for the signing may be purchased on site for $25 by cash or check. Co-sponsored by The Center for Ethics and Religion at Queens University of Charlotte.
The event is free and open to the public. Seats available on a first-come, first-served basis.
