Charlotte Latin Odyssey of the Mind teams compete at regional tournament
Upper School team advances to state competition


Dudas/LeDonne/Smith Team

Charlotte Latin's Upper School Dudas/LeDonne/Smith Odyssey of the Mind team finished first at the Central Region Odyssey of the Mind Tournament on Saturday, March 2, and has advanced to the state competition, which will be held at East Carolina University on April 6. State competition winners will advance to the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals.

One hundred thirty-eight teams competed at the regional tournament; five of those were Charlotte Latin teams.

Charlotte Latin coach Russ LeDonne received the Coach of the Year award. LeDonne has been coaching Odyssey of the Mind teams for the past nine years and has taken six teams to World Finals. He also helps with the Spontaneous Fair and coaches' training each year.  

Charlotte Latin’s teams finished as follows (all teams placing first or second advanced to the state competition):

Dudas/LeDonne/Smith Team (Upper School students) – 1st place

Stenerson Team (Middle School students) – 3rd place

Song Team (Lower School students) – 3rd place
Problem: Pet Project

Egge/Sobel Team (Lower School students) – 3rd place
Problem: ARTchitecture: The Musical

Members: Elena Egge, Brice Hayden, Nate Lambert, Lauren Parish, Elijah Schienson, Brian Sobel and Vivian Workman
 
Hollingsworth/Shumway Team (Lower School students) – 8th place
Problem: It's How You Look at It
Coaches: Meg Hollingsworth, Mary Shumway
Members: McMillan Davis, Chloe Floyd, Callie Gargagliano, Hannah Hollingsworth, Grace Scott, Ruth Shumway and Demetra Stamatakos
