Charlotte Latin students receive 34 Scholastic writing awards

Twenty-nine Charlotte Latin School students have received honors for their writing in the 2010 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition. Administered by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, this national competition recognizes seventh- through 12th-grade students. Each year, the Alliance receives thousands of works, submitted through its regional affiliates for consideration in more than 25 categories of art and writing. Regional Gold Key winners have advanced to the national competition in New York City.

In addition to receiving Gold Keys, works by the following students have been nominated for an American Voices Medal: Caroline Chiaroni, “Newfound Magic,” poetry collection; Katie Mayopoulos, “The White ‘Stainless’ Game Ball,” personal essay/memoir; Maddie Metz, “Mere Images,” humor.
