Upper School music students receive honors

Seven Upper School music students have been recognized on the basis of audition for state-level honors.

Senior Brian Lax was selected for the North Carolina Honors Chorus. More than 1,000 students audition annually for 170 available spots; Brian ranked 8th out of 23 baritones selected for the choral group. The Honors Chorus will present its concert at the North Carolina Music Educators In-Service Conference in Winston-Salem at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7.

Sophomore Grace Lowe was selected for the North Carolina High School All-State Honors Orchestra. The Honors Orchestra will present its concert at the opening of the North Carolina Music Educators In-Service Conference in Winston-Salem at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 7, under the direction of Dr. Alex Jimenez from Florida State University.

The following Upper School students were selected to participate in the NCAIS All-State Honors Band on November 3-4: Simon Menaker, alto sax; Kate Player, oboe; Alex Sanz alto sax, alternate; Louis Tonon, horn; and Andrew Zuehlke, trumpet.

The Honors Band will present its concert at Charlotte Country Day School at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 4.
