The Charlotte Latin School Distinguished Alumnus Award was established in 2008 by the Charlotte Latin School Alumni Association and Alumni Governing Board.
The Charlotte Latin School Distinguished Alumnus Award recognizes a Charlotte Latin Alumnus whose outstanding achievements and extraordinary service have distinguished himself. The recipient shall conduct himself with strong character and high honor and is a role model for today's Charlotte Latin students.
The Distinguished Alumnus Award shall be open to any alumnus who graduated not less than ten years prior to that nomination year. Nominations will be accepted from all alumni and current faculty members.
Each year the Alumni Governing Board appoints a Distinguished Alumnus Award committee which includes the President of the Alumni Governing Board, two other members of the Alumni Governing Board, the Director of Alumni Affairs, the Headmaster, one upper school faculty member and one member of the senior class.
In admiration for his distinguished record in academics and athletics at
Charlotte Latin School, serving as a member of the National Honor Society and the Cum Laude Society, a senior class officer, a member of the tennis team and captain of the soccer team
In recognition of his notable years as a Morehead Scholar at the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he chaired the Honor Court and graduated Phi Beta Kappa, and at the University of Virginia where he earned a law degree
In celebration of his many professional accomplishments, as a state and
federal prosecutor, an attorney in private practice and a
United States Magistrate Judge
In appreciation for his service to his alma mater, as a board member and President of the Alumni Governing Board
With admiration for his excellence in the fields of law and public service,
his commitment to making our community a safer and better place to live,
and his consistent demonstration of the highest standards of
personal and professional ethics
