As you approach the Charlotte Latin School campus,
you may at first think that you have entered a park. With more than
122 acres of mature trees dotted with gardens and expansive lawns,
the School's picturesque grounds certainly retain a natural setting,
despite its convenient suburban Charlotte location. A few minutes
spent walking along our hallways, decorated with students' projects
and art, and listening to our classes, from computer technology
to Latin, will quickly confirm for you that Charlotte Latin is a
school dedicated to the love of learning and the development of
intellectual curiosity. Charlotte Latin's numerous honors, including having students who consistently score among the area's highest mean SAT scores and three times being named a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by
the United States Department of Education, illustrate that our students
thrive by all measurable standards.
Beyond our academic record, Charlotte Latin School is a community comprised
of individuals who share a purpose and a mutual regard for one another.
Charlotte Latin today remains true to its founding parents' original
vision as a place where a stimulating learning environment is united
with a vibrant family life. Named for America's early Latin Schools,
in which colonial children pursued classical studies under the careful
tutelage of their teachers, Charlotte Latin similarly fosters a close
relationship between its faculty and students. With their teachers' guidance,
students of all ages study and serve the community that surrounds them
and the world that beckons them, in preparation to care for and succeed
in the global community they will inherit as adults. Their parents, too,
are partners with the School in their education, and are frequently seen
on campus, attending special events, cheering on a Hawks athletic team,
sharing lunch with their children in Founders' Hall, or serving on one
of the many committees that make Charlotte Latin a special place.
With Mr. Arch N. McIntosh, Jr., as headmaster, Charlotte Latin is today
a leader among independent schools and a cornerstone of the Charlotte
community. We invite you to learn more about Charlotte Latin School.
You will be welcome.
