To assist students entering and progressing
through adolescence, the Middle School incorporates a formal
advisory program that enables
teachers to interact with their students beyond routine classroom
relationships. Each student is assigned to a faculty advisor as
a member of an advisory team of approximately ten to twelve students.
Teams meet twice a week for one class period to discuss issues
important to this age group, including peer pressure and developing
self-esteem. Advisors help organize their team members’ parent-teacher
conferences, and provide an on-going adult contact for their students.
Eighth grade advisors also help their students make a smooth transition
to Upper School.
