Charlotte Latin School, like all independent schools without the benefit of revenue from local, state, or federal taxes, is responsible for its own funding. Tuitions and fees (that are fully taxable) provide most of the revenue needed to educate students. The balance comes from gifts. Gifts not only provide needed revenue for the School, they are also generally tax-deductible.
Charlotte Latin has consistently maintained a conservative fiscal policy while continuing to strengthen its educational program and improve its facilities. The School’s conservative fiscal policy and excellent financial management continue to ensure a consistently high standard of education at Latin.
The operating budget funds Latin’s most immediate and recurring needs, such as teacher salaries and educational supplies and programs. The endowment budget serves Latin’s longer term needs. Endowment funds are invested and a portion of the interest income is disbursed to support the operating and capital budgets - needs such as faculty professional development, student financial aid, and construction.
The history of generosity and voluntary giving by each Latin family continues to make the difference in our School’s success. Tuition and fees alone do not cover the full cost of educating a student, so we depend on each family to support the School by making a generous, tax-deductible annual gift. Only through this legacy of giving will Latin remain one of the premier schools in the country - sought after by dedicated teachers as the ideal school in which to teach, and by parents as the ideal school in which to educate their children.
