Sister Schools

Charlotte Latin prepares its students for the global community by incorporating international studies and experiences into School life, including a strong Sister School Program and an extensive Study Abroad Program for Upper School students. Foreign language studies begin in Kindergarten, and each division incorporates aspects of international studies into the curriculum. Students from Charlotte Latin's Sister Schools and other public and private international schools often visit to learn about the United States and to share their native cultures with their American classmates. Latin students live with host families while abroad, and many international guests live with Charlotte Latin host families during their stays, forging enduring friendships.

While the world may be flat according to Thomas Friedman, Latin's students are learning to be global citizens by cultivating an inclusive view that appreciates the similarities and respects the differences of people around the world.

Charlotte Latin maintains eight Sister School relationships. Our Sister Schools are:

* Colegio de Marin in Buenos Aires, Argentina
* Luzhou Laojiao Tianfu Middle School in Luzhou City, Sichuan

   Province, China
* Saint Marie Grand LeBrun in Bordeaux, France
* Jugenddorf Christophorusschule in Oberurff, Bad Zwesten,

   Germany
* Istituto Russell Guastalla in Reggio Emilia, Italy
* Hilton College in Lion's River Magisterial District, KwaZula

   Natal, South Africa
* St. Anne's Diocesan College, Hilton, South Africa
* Colegios Gredos San Diego in El Escorial, Madrid, Spain

Students from these and other schools often visit to learn about the United States and to share their native cultures with their American classmates. During the 2010-11 school year, Latin hosted nine long-term exchange students, and student groups from Argentina, Germany, Italy, and Spain also visited. Students sponsored by the American Field Service (AFS), Youth For Understanding (YFU), Study Group USA, the Center for Cultural Understanding (CCI) and CETUSA also attend Charlotte Latin periodically. Latin's families and faculty often extend a warm welcome to our foreign students by inviting them to stay in their homes during visits.
