Charlotte Latin School is pleased to offer need-based financial assistance to our students. The purpose of the Charlotte Latin School
Financial Aid program is to assist those families who face a situation where the cost of attendance exceeds their ability to pay. Financial
aid is available through the School's general financial aid fund, or in the form of scholarship endowments established by donors
specifically to provide financial assistance for Latin students. Although the School is prepared to assist those students who qualify for
need-based aid, the School also feels that each family should make an appropriate financial contribution to the cost of the children’s education.
The goal of the program is to provide the opportunity for academically qualified students to attend Charlotte Latin, regardless of
their financial status.
All families with current students or those applying for Transitional Kindergarten through Grade 12 are eligible to apply for Schoolsponsored
tuition assistance. (Tuition assistance awarded for Transitional Kindergarten is never more than 1/2 of the total tuition.) The
financial aid application process is confidential. Only the applicant and the Financial Aid Committee will have access to the information
provided. This information should not be discussed with other families or other schools. Families with students who are applying for
admission should complete the financial aid application at the same time as the admissions application.
How to Apply
To apply for financial aid, families should obtain a Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) from the Charlotte Latin Business Office or apply online at www.nais.org/financialaid/sss. The completed PFS should be sent directly to Student Service for
Financial Aid (SSS). A copy of the completed PFS and the family’s most recent Federal Income Tax Return should also be sent to the
Charlotte Latin Financial Aid Office at 9502 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28277.
Within two to three weeks, SSS will send a report to Charlotte Latin School Director of Finance that summarizes the family’s finances
and indicates an Estimated Family Contribution (EFC). The EFC is based on the income, assets, and liabilities of the family and is
divided by the number of children who attend tuition-charging institutions. The completed file will be evaluated by the School’s
FinancialAid Committee and will be treated confidentially and separately from the admissions application process. While the Committee
attempts to meet the demonstrated need of the applicants, rarely will it provide an award that is equal to 100% of the tuition and fees.
Need is based on the estimated cost of attendance (tuition plus books and fees) minus the EFC. Once an applicant has been accepted for
admission to the School, the Committee will send a letter to the applicant’s family stating the amount of any financial aid that will be
awarded.
